They are harvesting coffee, working on the drying pátios, trading, cupping professionally and making scientific researches. They are everywhere! In the past, however, their presence and importance in the Brazilian coffee production were not ofically registered in documents, contracts and receipts.
The cycle of women’s invisibility in the coffee industry perpetuates until the actual days, but with a difference: now they are organizing themselves. In order to understand better this foggy past related to women in coffee in Brazil, we invited the Historian Ana Luiza Martins to tell us what we never learn in books.
